One of the reasons that boys are more likely than girls to be charged with aggravated assault is that boys use weapons more frequently and physically inflict more injury on their victims—both indicators of the relative seriousness of boys’ versus girls’ violence.
Girls (Growth, Intervention, Respect, Leadership & Support) Initiative
- Launched from the Boston Center for Youth and Families
The main program is: Girls' Leadership Corps
- 100 peer leaders from all over Boston make up this program, each girl is linked to a local community center
- Each week groups of girls at every community center conduct support programs for girls
- The GLC also runs the summer program, “Girls Night Out”
